Patient-Specific Brain Modelling for Simulation of Deep Brain Stimulation

چکیده

Background: Computer models have previously been used for investigation of deep brain stimulation (DBS) to explore the relation between the stimulation field and the response to stimulation [1-4]. We have previously presented ELMA [3, 5], a patient-specific modelling and simulation method for DBS (Fig. 1). A brain tissue model is built based on the patient’s own magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The aim of this study was to further improve the brain tissue model in order to comprise adaptivity to a wide range of MRI sequences and to make the electrical conductivity assignment dependent on the neuromodulators frequency and pulse length settings.
